My Work
At Savannah Strong Consulting, I help schools build equity-centered systems where belonging, creativity, and deep learning are the norm—not the exception. My work lives at the intersection of strategy, pedagogy, and culture, supporting school leaders to align their values with their daily practices. I believe equity isn’t a program—it’s a way of being, thinking, and designing.
My approach is grounded in:
A decade of working in independent schools as a classroom teacher and instructional leader
Senior-level experience leading cross-functional strategy and systems change
Design thinking practices rooted in empathy, creativity, and collaborative problem-solving
Whether I’m supporting inclusive hiring, redesigning professional learning, or coaching leaders, I work as a strategic partner—fluent in pedagogy, attuned to systems, and committed to sustainable, joyful impact. I believe schools already hold the wisdom they need. My role is to surface it, center it, and build from there.
My story
I entered independent school in fifth grade as one of the only Black girls in my class. My teachers were kind. My classmates were polite. And still—I felt the quiet pressure to blend in.
So I did. I wore the ribbon belts. I talked about sports I’d never played and country clubs I didn’t belong to. I tucked away the parts of me that danced to Santana in the living room and lit up over my mom’s ackee and saltfish with handmade dumplings.
By all the usual metrics, I was thriving. But I know now: I was adapting, performing, trying to fit in. And that’s not the same as belonging.
The energy I spent shape-shifting? That was energy I wasn’t spending on learning.
As a teacher, I started putting words to what I had lived. I committed to building classrooms where students didn’t have to mask parts of themselves to succeed. That commitment expanded beyond the classroom—and it’s been the heart of my work ever since.
I help schools interrogate the water we swim in—the habits, assumptions, and systems that shape experience. Because students are the sharpest evaluators of our design. And belonging? It’s not just a feeling. It’s the foundation for deep, joyful, intellectually rich learning.
My Leadership
I never set out to become a school leader. I just kept following the thread of what my students needed—and what was getting in their way. That meant zooming out beyond my classroom to understand the systems that shape a school.
Now, I lead with the belief that schools are ecosystems—interconnected constellations of people, routines, and structures that either reinforce or interrupt inequity. My leadership blends strategy, values, and a systems-thinking lens that helps teams surface creative solutions to complex challenges.
I believe students should show up as their full selves—and adults as their most authentic ones. That requires courageous leadership, intentional design, and a culture where curiosity and care drive the work.
I’ve served on senior leadership teams at two Bay Area independent schools, leading cross-functional strategy and equity-centered change. I hold a master’s degree in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education—training that helps me bridge research and real-world practice in schools.
That’s the kind of leadership I practice—and the kind I help others build.
